Marc Steinberg, MD

Marc Steinberg MD - Motivational Interviewing TrainerMarc Steinberg, MD, FAAP worked many years in primary care before limiting his practice to diabetes care. That practice focused on serving adults, and children and adolescents and their families. He has many years of Motivational Interviewing (MI) experience in healthcare working with people with diabetes and other chronic conditions. He enjoyed his clinical time working especially with those struggling with or neglecting effective diabetes self care.

He began training people in Motivational Interviewing in 2004 and has provided MI trainings at numerous sites in the United States and Canada. Since 2008 he has been a faculty member and consultant in the area of behavior change at the Johnson & Johnson Diabetes Institute. He also serves as medical director of a HRSA grant to improve diabetes and cardiovascular care in the context of EHR adoption by clinics in rural Montana.

Marc manages TheGroup4QualityCare, LLC, an accredited medical education organization. He has also provided consultation to facilities creating unique diabetes programs that are truly person centric care and use MI to facilitate self care. In the past he has provided consultations to health plans, writing and reviewing policies for evidence based use of diabetes and other healthcare technologies in patient care.

He graduated from Georgetown University, attended medical school at the University of South Florida and did his residency at the University of Florida. In addition to his practice he is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT, an international group that promotes research and practice in MI), the American Diabetes Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and Alpha Omega Alpha. He enjoys an active lifestyle running, hiking and camping with family, friends and Leon, an English Mastiff. He actively enjoys life, laughter, family and friends in his fifth decade of living with type 1 diabetes.
